Surviving Summer (E18)

So, we're almost at the end of the penultimate week. At this point it feels like limping painfully toward the finish line of the Many-Shit-Life-Things Hurdles. The last few days have been fairly challenging; the hospital stuff knocked B for six (and it's not exactly fun restraining your child to expose them to shitty, though necessary, trauma). Add in extra seizures and a complete lack of routine, and this week has mostly been shouty, ragey, pinchy scratchy chaos.
BUT. There are always shiny bits. Let me share some highlights too, instead of just lamenting my difficult existence.
A few things I am thankful for...
1- Whoever invented those roll-along baskets in Wilko. Wheels on shopping baskets-fucking genius! (Mini trolleys for kids give me the same level of delight..)
2-The excellent guy in the very overcrowded and stacked bits and bobs shop who reassured me repeatedly all was well when B destroyed half the displays domino style from his buggy.
3-The lovely lady in Starbucks who offered to bring B's smoothie over and clear up the crisp packets from the basket he'd just upended. Complete with empathetic smile and shed loads of compassionate understanding.
4- the girls having an awesome time at PGL.
5-the lady at the park who went out of her way to assure me she didn't mind B faceplanting her crotch since I couldn't quite catch him in time.
6-Cider mate dates and strange contraband traffic cones that somehow end up in my garden, *bemused shrug*, much to the joy of the B-boy.
7-The curry house down the road that delivers food at midnight on a crappy Wednesday. Don't judge. Yesterday was epically awful.
8- The cloud game. Endless, changing fun, and an excellent distraction on a difficult day.
9-SEPTEMBER!
10-Giggles. Especially giggles from the boy.
11-Haagen Dazs (other luxury ice cream brands are available). I'm currently sat eating my body weight in the stuff. Zero fucks given.
